Fed 2 - c1955-1970s. Removable back, combined
viewfinder/rangefinder. From 1956 with self-timer, sync. Originally with Fed
f3.5/50mm. From 1957 with Industar-26M. From 1964 with lndustar-61. Body
covering exists in dark red, dark green, very dark blue, grey, and sand, found
much less often than the common black. See details of variants below:
-Fed-2 (type a)-1955-56. No sync.
-Fed-2 (type b) - 1956-56. Synchronized.
Type (1) has synch on body. Type (2) has synch on front of top housing.
-Fed-2 (type c) - c1958-60. New advance knob
with reminder. Original lens has large milled collar instead of focus lever.
-Fed-2 (type d) -1958-63. New shutter speed
sequence B, 1/30-1/500. From 1962 with mechanism to prevent partial winding.
-Fed-2 L -1963-69. Same as Fed 2 type d, but
with new lndustar-61 lens with Lanthanum elements.
-Fed-2 (type e) -1969-70. New top housing
like Fed-3, but with the shutter mechanism of the Fed-2 type d. No strap lugs.
Name engraved on the front or on the top.
This is a rare type of FED-2 cameras with the rectangular laid on
viewfinder. The production of such cameras has been limited that is why they can
become beautiful specimens for a collector.
